The Importance of Getting Off the Screens at Lunch

If you feel the need to eat lunch at your trading desk day in and day out, you’re doing it wrong.

Getting off the desk is important.

Getting off the desk in the middle of the day is even more important.

You need to stop worrying about missing opps.

You need a fresh head.

Get outside. Eat lunch outside like I do, which is something I try to do every single day.

Today’s a great day, just like yesterday and the day before and every other day. I’m off the screens when I should be, enjoying a quick lunch outside (only eating half of this monster). That little reset recharges me.

Get some vitamin D.

Staring at quotes nonstop all day will cause you to make some pretty bonehead mistakes.

You’ll start to overtrade.

You’ll lose your sharpness.

You won’t be able to logically think through good ideas.

Get off the desk, get outside, go for a walk, have lunch away from the screens, and try to have a conversation with someone.

Call someone up. See how their day is going.

Grab lunch with someone.

This is also why building out filters and tech for what you do best is so important.

I personally have my overnight momentum filters showing me exactly what I want to see and nothing else. I’ve got these built out via Trade Ideas.

Figure out what you do best, build it into filters, and just chill the f*ck out.

Get off the screens, and enjoy lunch!
