I am a professional trader of 8 years and spent a number of those years working at the professional trading firms SMB Capital and Kershner Trading Group.

I focus primarily on overnight momentum, higher-time-frame mean reversal setups, and the occasional special situation.

In order to find these unique opportunities, I use a few key tools and resources that I couldn’t trade without.

Let’s list them out:

• Trade Ideas – I use Trade Ideas for my overnight momentum system by looking at my custom-built filters during the last 20 minutes of the day. They tell me exactly which names to potentially consider taking overnight, as they are meeting the criteria most important to me (closing in the top 20% of their intraday range and on huge volume).
• Ask EDGAR – Because many of the names I take overnight for my momentum system are small caps, I need to quickly see what the dilution and offering risk is. Ask EDGAR gives me a low, medium, or high rating in these categories, which is incredibly helpful for determining risk.
• Stock Analysis – When it comes to big mean-reversal setups — where something is speeding up to the downside or upside and I’m looking to take the other side — I use the screeners I built in Stock Analysis to determine which names I should be watching. I also use this site to check a company’s financial health in a very efficient manner.
